NALTEA In Focus

Thanks For Your Service To Your Fellow Abstractors
by National Assoc of Land Title Examiners & Abstractors | 2009/10/15 |

It's a new era for NALTEA.  Our 2009 conference has come and gone.  We have enjoyed seeing many familiar faces, and were thrilled to meet several new members in Charlotte, NC.  It's a bittersweet time for the board of directors, and for the members who have benefited from the efforts of our outgoing officers and board members.

We offer our sincere gratitude to our outgoing board members and officers:  Lynn Hammett, who served on the board since February of 2006, and as NALTEA president for the past year; and Vikki Moffitt, who served as vice president from February to April of 2008, and has since served as a board member.

NALTEA appreciates their service.

NALTEA In Focus ::

NALTEA is proud to announce the election of two new board members, elected by the membership on Sunday, October 11, at the conference in Charlotte.  Jill Kissell previously served as NALTEA's secretary, and Debi Merrill as vice president.  Also on Sunday, Pat Scott was elected to serve a third two-year term on the board.  Following the announcement of the election results, the new board of directors appointed Pat Scott as president, to succeed Lynn Hammett.

On Tuesday, October 13, the new board voted unanimously to appoint our newest officer, Malinda Griffin, to the position of secretary.

NALTEA congratulates the incoming board members and officers on their new positions, and the outgoing board members and officers on their tireless work on behalf of independent abstractors everywhere.

The new board of directors expects to welcome a new vice president shortly.  Stay tuned.

What YOU Do to Support Your Business

Many thanks to all who serve NALTEA. Independent  Abstractors (small business that are not owned by lenders, real estate companies or builders.) Small independents need a voice in this industry and se have been blessed to have  people who are willing and able to serve as our voices. NALTEA needs to sing our praises for all it does behind the scenes. Model Legislation for Abstractors, Code of Ethics regarding payment for services, testifying at hearings, amicus briefs for abstractors, education and certification. These are all important to our industry.

If you want to support the ethics, ideals and goals of a professional organization who listens to its members and supports quality work, you need to do your part.  Ask not what any Land Title Association can do for you, ask what YOU can do for NALTEA  who supports your best interests.

NALTEA In Focus

Welcome to the NALTEA blog.  With our members scattered across this vast country, we are not able to meet personally as often as many of us would like.  We hope that this blog will help to encourage new ideas and enhance communication among our members.

From time to time, NALTEA will post about issues and events that matter to our members and our industry.  We welcome comments from members and others concerned with the future of our industry.
