The Town of New Milford in Connecticut is now accepting electronic documents and land records for recording through Simplifile, providing a faster, more cost-effective online recording option for customers.

"We started to do e-recording to keep up with technology, and it seems to be where things are going - so why not jump aboard earlier than later?" said New Milford Town Clerk Noreen Prichard. "E-recording benefits our customers in the time process of receiving and returning the documents and in the fees associated with the mailing of deeds. It makes life easier and better for all."

Instead of having to drive to the town clerk’s office or send documents by mail, runner, or courier service, customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys now have the ability to submit documents securely to the clerk’s office in minutes through Simplifile’s web-based service.

"Our office has had a great experience so far with Simplifile," Prichard added.

Once the documents are received electronically at the county, they are reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter through Simplifile in minutes.
