Info Directions and First American Proxix Solutions together launched an integrated solution to help service providers improve the management of tax jurisdiction information in the back office. The proper assignment of taxes can be a significant challenge since every physical location where a provider utilizes an asset may be subject to city, county, state and federal taxes. Special tax districts, which often overlap or fractionally occupy a jurisdiction, add to the patchwork of tax jurisdiction assignments, said Info Directions.
First American Proxix Solutions’ Site-US Tax solution uses precise geocoding, spatial analysis and a current nationwide tax district database to deliver accurate jurisdiction assignments. Integrated with Info Directions’ CostGuard customer care and billing software, Site-US Tax helps mobile, wireline, IP and convergent carriers verify address information in real time when provisioning new customers and also identify any changes in jurisdiction assignments during periodic checks on their existing customer databases.
“With compliance mandates becoming stricter, it is imperative that service providers pay special attention to tax jurisdiction issues,” said Paul Wray, the president of First American Proxix Solutions. “The integration of (Site-US Tax product with CostGuard) helps eliminate many of the risks associated with improperly assigning tax jurisdictions to customers.”
The solution also is helpful for carriers with a national footprint or those doing business in regions where tax jurisdictions are complex or change frequently, to validate critical address assignment data.
